Robinsun enables every household to save on its power bill while taking action against climate change. Our Plug & Play Solar Kits are self installable in minutes. The solar energy they produce and feed directly into a households electricity circuit reduces the need for grid power (that is mostly not renewable).

Tell us about yourself?

I’m a serial entrepreneur in consumer tech in Europe and the US. Previous companies (co)founded include Groupon/CityDeal, tarifas24, GoReadyMade and others. After over 2 decades I wanted my next company to have a meaningful, direct impact in the fight against climate change. That’s why I founded Robinsun.com, to be the pioneer in Plug & Play Solar Kits (that are extremely popular in Germany) to sunny Southern European markets.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Start Robinsun.com earlier, and push harder to spread the news. The rate at which we’re destroying our planet leaves no time to waste to stop the madness. We need climate action now.

What problem does your business solve?

1 in 2 European households has no roof for a PV installation. In Spain this is 2 in 3 households, as people live more in apartments than single family homes. Robinsun allows this vast part of our society to generate solar energy for self consumption, taking down grid energy consumption that is mostly not-renewable and responsible for 10-20% of CO2 emissions worldwide.
Reducing grid consumption has another benefit: lower power bills. A Plug & Play Solar Kit in Southern Europe has a payback time of 3-4 years, and guarantees extremely low kWh prices over 25-30 years.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

As an entrepreneur and citizen, I want to contribute in to the fight against climate change, and take action today. We need everybody to contribute, and as an entrepreneur that has spent 2 decades building consumer-facing businesses I want to put my experience to work for a good cause.

What is your magic sauce?

Simplicity. The key to a Robinsun Plug & Play Solar Kit is the ease of ordering, installing and using it. No waiting for an installer, no paperwork, no complications. By making solar energy that easy we want to make it accessible to everybody.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Robinsun wants to bring Plug & Play Solar Kits to Southern Europe and beyond. We start in Spain, and are already also selling in Italy and France. We want to build the leading provider in all of Southern Europe, where abundant sunshine hours increase the benefits of solar energy.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Robinsun started up in early 2023, and our biggest challenge to date has been just that. Especially for a consumer venture, in the current climate on financial markets, starting up is not easy.
