Our concept of storage is functional, complete, flexible and sustainable. We are one click away from your door to collect your belongings, store them in our facilities and return them whenever you want.
In other words, if you request our services through our platform, we will go to your house or office, pack your things and take them to our facilities. And your things remain safe and secure until you ask for them again.
Box2box is a 100% online logistic company that allows people and companies to store their belongings and manage them digitally without dedicating time or effort.
Tell us about yourself?
I am French, but my grandfather was from Spain so I have always been attracted to this culture. I am an industrial engineer who came to Spain with a scholarship and I felt that I could do something important here. I was not entirely wrong.
I met Sander 4 years ago, a Dutch who had just arrived in Madrid. We both had the dream of creating our own business and we always talked about some crazy ideas. I was working in the logistic sector, and I knew there was still a long way to go, especially when it comes to digitization.
And here we are, we are deeply immersed in the digital storage business, making a dream come true.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
Over the last years, real estate prices have not stopped increasing in medium and large cities in Europe, like Madrid, London, Paris or Berlin. Therefore, we must add a demographic trend of mobility towards big cities.
This leads to a decrease in the size of the apartments and makes it more complicated to store their objects. It’s difficult to store all your belongings and have space to be comfortable at the same time.
We have the same case with companies and offices. Stacks of papers surrounding you, furniture that you don’t need or use anymore, and a tendency to reduce workspace.
And that’s the problem we want to solve. Give people the space they need in the most comfortable way possible. We love no new technologies, so we combine our idea of making space with digitalization. And that is how box2box was born.
What is your magic sauce?
It is not what you do, but how you do things that make the difference. There are two aspects that differentiate us from our competitors. First we have a really good team that guides our clients in the process.
We make the customer feel supported, secure and confident of making the best decision. Our concept of storage is not the traditional one, the customers can not see their belongings each time they want to. So we worked very hard to earn their trust and this led us to success. We are on a very good path.
Secondly, we offer a comfortable and accessible service from anywhere. You could hire us from the comfort of your sofa, or while having coffee with friends. With just one click on your phone you can store or request a shuttle service. The idea is to have a luxury service but with very competitive prices.
Where do you see your company going in 5 years time?
Despite the actual situation with the pandemic, we consider ourselves lucky. In the last two years we have grown due to our digital business model. We propose a service where people don’t have to leave home. So they gave us the opportunity to be their storage and discovered that they love it.
We hope to continue growing and reaching more cities. We are currently in Portugal (Oporto and Lisbon) and in big cities of Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, Málaga y Valencia). Right now, we reopen again in Paris, so we are working on an international expansion.
We believe that, after achieving very good results with almost no funding, the time has come to accelerate the growth of the company and become the reference in the European market.
What has been your biggest setback so far?
When you have a company there are many complicated decisions to make and a lot of hard times. You need investors, people, knowledge, and of course passion.
A lot of people depend on us, so you have to have a clear mind. The biggest challenge I have faced is making decisions that not everyone likes, but that you know is the right thing to do. When you are growing like we do you have a lot of responsibility.
What is the next big challenge for your business?
Like I said before, we are expanding to new countries. The most recent, France. That is our new big challenge. We have to grow in Paris, and convince our french customers that we are the best choice for them.
We face a new start and it is scary and exciting at the same time. But we think that our team is prepared for this and we are in the right moment to do it.
How do people get involved/buy into your vision?
It is all about passion. When you dedicate yourself to what you want, what you really like and are excited about it, the sensations are transmitted.
You have the tools and you built a path to follow. If you believe in yourself it is easy for others to share your vision. Sander and I believe that what we do helps people to have a better life. We offer space, flexibility, security and comfort. This idea is also shared by our team. That your workers believe in you is the most powerful weapon and your strongest point.
