askui contributes to the vision of a functional digital world through an innovative UI test automation solution.
For us here at askui, people are the center of the work that we do. That’s why we bring the human touch into the automation process through askui James. We don’t just test UIs according to rigid methods, we understand them like a human.
Tell us about yourself?
I originally studied Industrial Engineering and Management and was interested in entrepreneurship since my high school diploma. Therefore, digitization and, in particular, the automation of digital processes was something I was interested in at an early stage. Thats why I was hooked straight away when my co-founder presented the idea to me. The idea of automating all the processes mapped in the UI without having to look into the underlying code is just insanely exciting.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
In today’s test automation, there are many dependencies on the underlying code. For example, various solutions are used for test automation of web applications and native mobile applications. Also, some elements are very difficult to automate because the underlying code is not visible. We help all QA engineers, software developers and RPA developers who have reached their limits in UI automation with existing methods.
What is your magic sauce?
We automate UI tests with the help of an AI that has learned what user interfaces look like. That means we automate like humans do – without even looking at a single line of code.
Where do you see your company going in 5 years time?
The last two years have been strong drivers of digitalization. Especially because of this, the demand for high-quality software is high. With our strong growth, we see ourselves as the industry leading tool for UI test automation in five years.
What has been your biggest setback so far?
At the beginning of our development, we thought that the no-code approach was our big added value. Learning that our real added value lies in platform-independent automation (automate anything on anything) took us at least a quarter of a year. In retrospect, time we could have used in development – but I think that’s part of being a StartUp.
What is the next big challenge for your business?
We are currently thinking about changing our business model, at the core we want to align ourselves in such a way that we help the developer and tester community more. Until now, we were a classic SaaS business, but now we are also considering other ideas.I can’t talk too much about it yet, but this could be one of the most decisive moments in our career so far. But more about that on our website in Q1 2022.
How do people get involved/buy into your vision?
